New Summer Store Hours starting June 6th are Mon-Sat 10am-5pm. Our summers are slow with School out and people vacationing so we have changed them to fit our busiest times through the Summer.

You will see a BIG change in our Costume Room this year. We have cleared out most of the older costumes by putting them online to sell. What you will see will be the 2011 costume line. This leaves us lots of space on the sales floor for you to get around this year. No more squeezing through the aisles. But this also means that by Halloween day we will be low on the choices so prepare to by early this year. The new lines will not be shown online for sell yet I will add them after Halloween for what we have left. There will be some exceptions like new wigs,masks and accessories I bought enough of to go online also Lady Gaga, Pirates of the Caribbean, Thor,Rango are just a couple of the new lines ofered. We have more weapons than ever before. Some very cool ones too.Generic and movie versions. Our 2011 business plan is working for us and keeping our doors open and giving us the revenue we need to stock new merchandise and keeping up with what sells out that we can restock. The economy has been a tough one on all small businesses. But we have adapted  and will continue to move forward.

2011 Business Plan: Out On A Whim has turned to online sales now to keep merchandise moving. We have made part of the store an internet sales stockroom so if you come in and see you can't access the older part that is why. We had to do something in a sluggish economy. With so much merchandise and most sitting stagnant we eased into the online and now going full force with it. This way we can afford to keep the doors open while stocking items that do sell in the store.

Nov 26th Black Friday Special sales through out the store on selected merchandise for Friday and Saturday. Nov 20th 1st Annual Arts & Crafts Christmas Gift Show

We are having an Arts & Crafts Christmas Gift show at Out On A Whim Nov 20th. This will be the Saturday before Thanksgiving to give customers a head start on Christmas shopping and gift items that will be handcrafted in the Wiregrass. I would like all artists from the Wiregrass with handcrafted items to come and join in. It will be Free to set up.

If you are licensed bring your license and collect your own money and taxes

If you are not licensed we will designate a register and collect the taxes and report them for you. Your customers will be able to pay by any credit card or any means of Payment Out On A Whim accepts. But because these charges are not free to me, Out on A Whim will get 5% of the sale price to cover the expenses of cc & check payment fees and bookkeeping for tax collection.

You must bring your own folding table like a card table to display your art. Also bring plenty of flyers and/or business cards so you can make new customer contacts. We ask that you park in the back and enter the back door to set up.
Times will be 1pm-5pm. I will have registrations to keep from being overcrowded with artists at the last minute...All you have to do is tell me you'll be there to be registered. Registrations will end when we are full.

Oct 30th our 12th annual Trick or Treating event for the kids.

Children must be in costume and accompanied by parent or guardian. We have lots of candy and will be popping some fresh popcorn. Saturday October 30th 4:30pm-6:30pm

Clearance Sale: July 2010 While they last all our beaded curtains are on sale for $15.00 each this sale will continue until these are gone. This will not include new styles once these are sold out. We also are clearing out 2 styles of neon lights a Palm Tree and a Flamingo for $17.00. Come and get em while we have them.

Candlemaking: We will now be making our own line of candles. There are so many we need and can't get anymore so starting this week July 12th we will be making our own Seven Day candles and then continue into other types. Handmade is always better than machine made anyway. These will all be soy based candles.


Out On A Whim's Website has been redone. The cost was just too much and the inventories almost impossible to keep updated on the previous site. I was selling 95% more on my ebay store because it has a better search engine outreach without me paying extra so I figured why keep paying the higher cost. Give online shoppers the sites they like purchasing from and local shoppers a peek at what we have without having to pull that inventory to sell online Plus saving over $100.00 a month to redo the site to a way it has proven it's self to be better for those coming on the site seemed the better business decission all the way around.



OUT ON A WHIM now has a room just for the Vintage clothes and some non-vintage era accessories for 50's,60's,70's ,80's and a little bit of 90's.
Vintage Toys Jewelry,books and decor are throughout the store and in part of the studio.
STUDIO? Yes we have added an area where I am now making life size props for Haunted Houses. Right now I have a 7' Haunted tree and almost finished with the sinister Butler dude and witch doctor zombie. These props will all be displayed in the studio.



Whim's Fashions: For many years I have had Whim Fashion labels...well I am about to put them to use. I studied Fashion Design and always loved creating new styles and fashions in my younger days. But though Fashion design was my passion for many years I decided to take Interior Design instead. Well...I am back to my fashion design. The designs I create will be one of a kinds basicly. I am combining some vintage trims and fabrics with new and giving them a touch of the 60's & 70's. I'm bringing Ric Rac back and designs I had created years ago that I never brought to light except in my own closet. I'm looking forward to getting started on this . I will also do era clothes and accessories like pinafore aprons, pantloons etc. Which aren't always easy for me to find from costume manufacturers.
